We are looking for entries from aspiring writers for our Poetry & Short Story Competition. Become a part of the Maria Edgeworth Festival of Literature & Arts and join in with other literary enthusiasts.
Adjudicators will judge your entries to our Literary Writing Competition. Additionally, they will compose a short list, which will consist of 1st, 2nd and 3rd and three highly commended.
Prize Winners and Highly Commended will be notified by the 19th April 2024.
During our Maria Edgeworth Literary Festival we always hold a dedicated evening on the Saturday night to celebrate the writers and award the prizes. Of course, everyone is more than welcome to honour the winners with us. In light of the occasion, we will invite the winning authors to read their entries at this years event on 11th May 2024.

Competitions are open to writers who are 18 years of age or older. All entries must be the original work of the entrant and must not have been published, accepted for publication, broadcast or honoured by the closing dates for entries. This includes entries published on Social media, websites or blogs.
Firstly, select the ‘Enter Competition’ button for the Category you wish to enter.
Then, on the new page that appears, you make your payment. Payment is by credit/debit card only. We use Stripe to handle payments.
Finally, once payment is made, a new page opens where you add your name and email (mandatory), then attach your poems or short story by selecting the ‘Choose Files’ button and finding them on your computer. Files must be in Microsoft Word Format (version 2007 or more recent). You can also use Open or Libre Office but files must be in the .docx format or the files will be rejected
