And unearth its name: “The Town of the Great Writers”. Follow in the footsteps of historical figures, like Sir Walter Scott, William Wordsworth, Oscar Wilde and many more. Take this breathtaking literary walking tour and uncover their connections with the town of Edgeworthstown.

Matt Farrell
There is a widespread belief that our local historian, Matt, is married to Maria Edgeworth. Recognized as the Heritage Hero of 2017, he earned this title through his remarkable passion and unwavering commitment. Matt serves as the driving force behind the Maria Edgeworth Centre, dedicating himself to preserving her memory and promoting awareness of her family and the extraordinary heritage of Edgeworthstown.
