Dark Daughter Productions

LOLA MONTEZ & LADY MORGAN – AN IMAGINGED CONVERSATION

A comedic tongue-in-cheek historical tale with scandal & intrigue galore!

‘Dark Daughter Productions’ offers a historical story of 2 women who walked along The Wild Atlantic way NW in the early 1800s. The piece is written by Maura Logue with Marianne Fahy as Lady Morgan and Maura Logue as Lola Montez. The play continues ‘Dark Daughter’s’ commitment to honouring forgotten women in Irish & Anglo-Irish history. Lola Montez was infamous as a ‘celebrity’ of the 1800’s. Lady Morgan, the former Sydney Owenson, was a renowned harpist and published writer. She wrote a novel – ‘O’ Donnell’ – where she glorified the Chieftain of Gaelic Ways. Her ‘Wild Irish Girl’ – a novel written in 1806, talked of the dispossession of Irish nobility in the time of Cromwell. The two women look back at their lives and in a “tongue-in-cheek” delivery, amuse the audience with scandalous anecdotes, commentaries and retorts. Duration 45 minutes
