About the Event

When was the last time you sat down with a cup of tea and wrote a letter by hand?
Take the opportunity to exchange letters, maybe find a pen pal!

Take a little time out of your busy day to slow down, gather your thoughts and enjoy the simple pleasure of putting pen to paper. Whether you love writing or haven’t written a letter in years, you are very welcome.

Through the Sunday Letter Project, we have received letters from people around the world. Come along, take your time to read them and, if you wish, write a reply of your own.

Tea and writing materials will be provided, with plenty of time to write, reflect and enjoy a friendly chat.
Help us keep the art of letter writing alive, one letter at a time.

What can I bring?

  • your favourite writing pen
  • anything you would like to send to a future pen pal, for example: a little drawing, photo of your pet….

Tickets

  • Free
  • Spaces are limited
  • Registration necessary
  • Materials included (excluding postage)

Facilitator

Maria Edgeworth Centre – Letter Keepers

As a Letter Keeper, the Maria Edgeworth Centre collects introductory letters written by participants and makes them available for others to read and reply to. Writers can either leave a letter to be discovered by someone else, or choose a letter from the collection and write a thoughtful reply. All correspondence is sent by post through the project’s international network of Letter Keepers. The Sunday Letter Project–a simple, beautiful idea that brings people together through handwritten letters exchanged with strangers, slowly and thoughtfully.
